Minister of Education: Families must be actively involved in academic training

The Minister for Education, Héctor Rodríguez, called for consolidating true co-responsibility between family, school and community as a fundamental axis for raising educational quality in the country.

During an inspection visit to the rehabilitation work of the Luis Beltrán Prieto Figueroa National Educational Complex (CEN), in Los Dos Caminos, this Monday emphasized that support from home is decisive for the integral development of students, citing data from the recent PISA evaluation report to warn about the risks generated by excessive and unsupervised use of screens, social networks and intelligence artificial in children and young people.

In this regard, according to a press release, Rodríguez urged families to be actively involved in academic training, promoting daily reading and reinforcing the prioritized contents in which the country is making progress, such as language practices, identity, natural sciences and mathematics.

Referring to the remodeling of classrooms, waterproofing, adaptation of drains and reconstruction of kitchens with industrial equipment that are being carried out at the national level, he clarified that, although there is no direct relationship between the state of the building and academic performance, having beautiful, safe and well-equipped spaces is essential to give peace of mind to homes and guarantee decent working conditions for teaching staff, thus consolidating the joint effort between the State and the family.
