Minister Padrino and ranchers articulate actions to certify the country as free of foot-and-mouth disease

The Minister for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Vladímir Padrino López, held a meeting with representatives and livestock organizations in the country, with the purpose of coordinating actions aimed at obtaining international certification of Venezuela as free of foot-and-mouth disease.
During the meeting, working groups were held to address issues of animal health, epidemiological surveillance and the post-vaccination audit of the national coverage achieved corresponding to the first cycle of immunization against foot-and-mouth disease.
“It is a matter of national pride to achieve international certification of Venezuela as a country free of the disease,” said the head of the agricultural firm, who also stressed the importance of strengthening trust and joint work between the national government and the sector to achieve this objective, which will favor the country.
In addition, he emphasized strengthening a more sustained and oriented effort to comply with this health protocol, which will help to energize the productive sector, diversify the economy and promote the opening of the livestock sector in the international market with the great genetic potential of the national herd.
Along with the Minister, representatives of the livestock union sector also evaluated strategies and actions to advance structural solutions to correct distortions and strengthen livestock activity.
The head of the agricultural portfolio specified that work is being done to modernize the National Institute for Integral Agricultural Health (INSAI) to optimize and offer more efficient and expeditious processes.
He also called for the participation of Livestock Characterization 2026.
Padrino López thanked, on behalf of the National Executive, the contributions and solidarity of the livestock sector with the families affected by the double earthquake of June 24. He also highlighted the nation's capacity for resilience and unity to face adversity.
The day served as a space for dialogue and joint work, and included representatives of the Venezuelan Foundation for Animal Health Services (FUNVESA), the Venezuelan Buffalo Breeders Association (CRIABÚFALOS), the National Confederation of Farmers and Livestock Farmers of Venezuela (CONFAGAN), the Association of Cattle Farmers of Northern Táchira (ASOGANORT) and the Barinas Cattle Association (ASOBARINAS)
They were also members of the Miranda Municipality Cattle Association (ASOGAMI), the Apure Cattle Association (AGAPURE), the Portuguese Cattle Farmers Society (SOGAPOR), the Venezuelan Meat Council (CONVECAR), and the Venezuelan Chamber of Dairy Industries (CAVILAC).
