The National Government, through the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and the Public Security Agencies, managed to stop the advances and attempts at sabotage, to fill the country with terrorism, blood and fascism, that sectors of the extreme right had planned for this Sunday's elections, said Defense Minister G/J Vladimir Padrino López.
“We have stopped the threats and we have guaranteed the people of Venezuela their safety. The people went out today, free of conscience, through the streets of the country to exercise their vote, they moved freely and we guarantee security in the voting centers,” said the senior military official in statements made this Sunday, in which he assured that Venezuela is a country that is at peace, but it is not exempt from threats.
“Venezuela is a country that is constantly being threatened by an extremist minority that what they want for Venezuela is violence, scorched earth, death, desolation,” he said, while stressing that the people have stepped up to tell these groups and the entire world that “no more aggressions, manipulations, lies, communication blockade,” he stressed.
On the other hand, he highlighted the excellent performance of the FANB throughout the development of Operation Republic and its commitment to the protection of the country's electoral material and infrastructure.
“Operation Republic has fulfilled its schedule of activities accompanying the National Electoral Council (CNE), so you should congratulate the brothers of the FANB and convey to the entire FANB the congratulatory greetings of our Commander in Chief, Nicolás Maduro Moros,” he said.
