Ministry of Ecosocialism activated 11 points to dump rubble waste in La Guaira

The Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Nelson Rodríguez, reported that 11 plots of land were arranged in the state of La Guaira to dump the waste through rubble produced after the devastating earthquakes recorded last June 24.

In an interview with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Rodríguez pointed out that the 11 points were studied together with international organizations, specifically the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), to determine the suitability of the land, categorized as Temporary Waste Disposal Centers (CDT), “to then segregate them, separate them and then bring them to the appropriate terms,” he explained.

He indicated that what they remove in La Guaira is the waste authorized by the rescue agencies and that, through motorcycle guides, they redirect the trucks with the waste to these CDTs.

The minister stressed that since the day of the catastrophe, 8,784 tons of total waste have been collected, with 106 operating vehicles and 697 people employed for work. In addition, the private companies Fospuca and Protecnia have been incorporated for the task.

As for waste, he pointed out that after taking tours, the figure is close to two million 106 thousand tons of rubble, which are divided into 577 thousand in personal property and one million 529 thousand tons of construction materials. In turn, he insisted that in Venezuela there is what is called environmental day care through laws and, based on this, “we did a special operation based on the complaints that were raised through the networks, to carry out the surveillance with a focus on raising awareness.”
