Ministry of Health carried out a day of medical assistance to indigenous communities in Barinas and Delta Amacuro

With the objective of ensuring the social protection and well-being of indigenous peoples, the Ministry of Health (MinSalud), through the General Directorate of Indigenous, Intercultural Health and Complementary Therapies, implemented two care approaches that benefited the Cuiba ethnic groups in Barinas and Warao in the Delta Amacuro state.

In the state of Barinas, according to a press release, the day took place in the Santa Marta II sector of Bum Bum, Socopó parish in the Antonio José de Sucre municipality. In coordination with the entity's single health authority, José Fajardo, the indigenous care services (SAOI), Fundacer and the Environmental Health Brigades provided general medicine consultations, nutritional evaluations for children, X-ray tests, drug delivery and fumigation work in homes.

Meanwhile, in the Antonio Díaz municipality of Delta Amacuro state, the fleet of the Delta del Orinoco Specialized Fluvial Clinic assisted more than 275 inhabitants of the Warao people in the communities of Guayo, Ranchería, Guayoboroina and Murako.

During the operation, care was offered in general medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, dentistry, laboratory tests, tuberculosis screening and the delivery of essential supplies.
