The mayor of the Guaicaipura municipality of Miranda state, Farith Fraija, reported that so far 156 homes have been affected by the heavy rainfall of the last few hours.

During statements for Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Fraija indicated that three parishes in the town were mainly affected by Los Teques, San Pedro and Cecilio Acosta.

He stressed that all public security and risk management teams are deployed in the city to deal with the contingency.

He also asserted that the El Alambique ravine overflowed, a vehicle being swept away by strong currents, affecting three people, including a minor, who managed to get out of the car on her own, and then transferred to the Victorino Santaella Hospital in Los Teques, where she began her recovery process.

“Unfortunately, a man and a woman were dragged and are missing, the security forces are still deployed, looking for them,” he added.
