Misión Nevado has more than 650 dogs and cats from the state of La Guaira ready for adoption

Around 650 dogs and cats from the state of La Guaira are ready to be adopted after being rescued after the double earthquake of last 24.

The care and protection efforts are led by the Nevado Mission, which maintains a permanent operation in the Juan Carlos Rodríguez main shelter, located in the Los Corales sector.

The information was released by Amanda González, in charge of the area for part of the mission, who explained that “between the cats and dogs that we already had sheltered and those that have been arriving, we have a total of approximately 650 animals”.

At the facilities, a multidisciplinary team of volunteers provides daily feeding days in the mornings and specialized veterinary care in the afternoons.

González made a direct call to the inhabitants of the coastal entity who are interested and willing to provide a home for these animals. “They simply have to appear in person, present a photocopy of their identity card, a photocopy of the RIF and, above all, achieve that special connection with the pet. The moment that this link is generated, adoption is automatic,” he said.

The shelter operates Monday through Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

They also have an extended veterinary medical service until 8:00 p.m., for occasional visits.

The spokeswoman stressed that the space not only serves as a refuge, but that it has been transformed into a strategic center for the collection and distribution of supplies.

About 50 kilograms of food are distributed daily to vulnerable families in the area and people who formalize an adoption, who receive an initial ration for their new pet.

“Help us to give them the quality of life they deserve and that we try to provide them here every day,” González asked.

While the emergency continues on the coast, the Juan Carlos Rodríguez Refuge remains receptive to welcoming more animals rescued from the most affected areas.
