More than 128,000 families receive official care after the earthquake emergency in the country

The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, reported that a total of 128,324 families have received direct and timely care from the Venezuelan State after the earthquake emergency, according to the consolidated balance sheet presented this Tuesday by the National Government. The official report highlights the priority that the Executive maintains in social assistance and the protection of vulnerable communities in the midst of complex contingency tasks in the national territory.

To respond to the housing crisis that left 17,907 people homeless, the authorities reported on the establishment and refurbishment of 107 temporary camps. In these temporary shelter spaces, 20,903 citizens are already safely protected, who receive comprehensive support while definitive solutions for relocation and reconstruction are coordinated.

To date, the deployment of humanitarian assistance reports the sustained distribution of 10,063 tons of food and 21 million 751,407 liters of drinking water in the affected areas, in addition to the direct medical care of 33,652 patients who required clinical evaluation. This enormous logistical operation is possible thanks to an active force in the field composed of 30,989 State security and prevention personnel, backed by the solidarity work of 31,050 national volunteers and a contingent of 2,471 international rescuers.

The technical balance confirms that the number of fatalities stands at 4,734 people, while the injured number 16,740 and the number of citizens rescued alive totaling 6,462. In terms of civil infrastructure, engineering teams report 856 affected buildings of varying degrees and 190 completely collapsed, under constant preventive monitoring due to the record of 1,275 aftershocks in the areas of the accident.
