More than 30 thousand board members will participate in the second National Popular Consultation 2026

The coordinator of the Foundation for the Development and Promotion of Community Power (FUNDACOMUNAL) Caracas, Ericson Longa, reported that a total of 30,000 board members will be active in 5,418 communal territories during the second National Popular Consultation 2026, scheduled for October 18.

In this regard, during an interview with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), he highlighted that the figure shows the high participation of the rank and file and explained that the process will have 11,000 active voting centers, nearly 12,500 defined tables and 1,900 community centers enabled to bring the structure closer to the public.

“The peculiarity of this consultation comes after a complex moment after the double earthquake and the goal is that all queries can be answered (...). This is an exercise to strengthen direct and leading democracy for the definition of projects,” he said.

He also indicated that around 50% of the projects were proposed with transformation number two, which is Human Cities and Services, to promote national reconstruction in response to the contingency.

For her part, the spokeswoman for the Socialist Commune “El Panal 2021", Judith Guerra, explained that the consultation is “a process of leading participation of each neighbor” to promote a transparent and democratic exercise according to the needs of the community.

“We developed everything that is framed in the seven transformations (...). It's a complicated job and that's where the proposals for the popular consultation come from. The demographic census rests there and that is where policies are made for the communes,” he said.

In addition, a call was extended to the entire community of mothers, fathers, older adults and young people over 18 years of age to actively join this process of leading participation on October 18.
