The National Assembly (AN) formalized the Parliamentary Friendship Groups with Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru and Panama, during a session held this Friday at the Federal Legislative Palace.

The event took place in the Hall of Shields as part of the international link mechanisms promoted by the Venezuelan Parliament.

The first vice-president of the AN, Deputy Pedro Infante, said that these spaces strengthen historical, cultural and political ties between Venezuela and the nations of the region. “These groups make it possible to consolidate relationships that have accompanied our peoples over time,” he said.

Infante stressed that the installation of these bodies facilitates legislative exchange and joint work on issues of foreign policy and international law. “They are mechanisms that promote cooperation and dialogue with the world's parliaments,” he said.

The parliamentarian also referred to the integrationist thinking of Liberator Simon Bolivar as a guide for regional legislative action. “To raise the idea of Bolivar in the Andean and Central American parliaments is to defend the truth,” he stressed.

In recent years, the AN has promoted the reactivation of friendship groups with various countries as part of the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace, aimed at expanding channels of dialogue and parliamentary cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean.
