For 53 years, National Firefighters Day has been celebrated every August 20 in the country.
The request to decree this day was made in 1972 during the First Bolivarian Firefighters Congress in the city of Maracaibo, Zulia state, an event where the countries that the Father of the Fatherland gave them independence participated.
Among the labors of the men and women dressed in blue who are remembered is their performance in the tragedy of Tacoa, Vargas state, an event that occurred on December 19, 1982. It also recalls the active participation of Venezuelan firefighters in the Caracas earthquake, which occurred on July 29, 1967.
In 2020, these men and women played a very important role during the pandemic, being one of the first in the line of combat.
