National Government accelerates construction of housing for victims of the earthquakes of June 24

The president of the National Assembly (AN) and of the General Staff for the Creation of Transitional Camps, Jorge Rodríguez, inspected the full operation of the temporary camp installed in the Caracas Polyhedron, from where he highlighted the advances in the construction of rapidly built housing aimed at serving families affected by the earthquakes of last June 24. During the supervision, the parliamentarian pointed out that these temporary modules will gradually make it possible to vacate the school facilities used during the contingency.

Rodríguez specified that “the central objective of the temporary relocation plan is to free up all 67 schools that currently house citizens in the different camps.” This measure seeks to restore normal activities in schools while ensuring that families stay in optimally conditioned spaces.

Simultaneously, Rodríguez detailed the execution of a diverse housing strategy that “encompasses the acquisition of real estate in the secondary market and the completion of pending projects of the Great Venezuela Housing Mission.” In turn, he highlighted the development of new urban developments in the country, including the project to build 3,000 homes in the town of Catia La Mar to guarantee permanent solutions.

The head of parliament concluded that “all of these actions will generate sufficient capacity to provide comprehensive and decent coverage to each of the people affected by the earthquake emergency”. By combining temporary shelters and the assignment of definitive roofs, State institutions confirm their commitment to guarantee the safety and tranquility of impacted communities.
