The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, celebrated the 162nd anniversary of the birth of the doctor of the poor, Saint José Gregorio Hernández, who transcended his time because of his values and his deepest faith and heightened patriotic awareness.
In his account on the social network Telegram, he highlighted: “Today we celebrate, together with the noble people of Venezuela, of our America and beyond, the 162 years since the birth of the doctor of the poor, Saint José Gregorio Hernández.”
“A man who transcended his time because of the values he practiced from his deepest faith and highest patriotic awareness,” he said.
He affirmed that “our beloved Saint Joseph Gregorio Hernández demonstrated to us, with his daily example, “that everything is one”: faith converted into an action of love, solidarity and dedication to those in need, house by house, community by community, bringing to every human being the word and attention that would alleviate their suffering and take care of their life”.
He also assured that “Cilia and I are always with you, saying in a song of joy, with a loud voice: Long live our local saint, Saint José Gregorio Hernández! God is with us... Amen!”.
