Omar Torrijos: Example of strength and dignity (+seeding)

On July 31, 1981, General Omar Torrijos died in Penonomé, Panama. He is recognized because he led the Nationalist Revolution, for the rescue of sovereignty over the Panama Canal, which was achieved through the Torrijos-Carter Treaties, signed on September 7, 1977 and through which military bases are legalized in the country and the neutrality of the Panama Canal is established in perpetuity.

In addition to the Panamanian Revolution, it promoted significant social development for the poorest classes, the peasantry, indigenous people, professionals, workers and the lower classes of Panama.

At 52 years of age, this historic leader dies after a plane crash in a Dehavilland Twin Otter (DHC-6) of the Panamanian air force, which exploded in mid-flight.

According to John Perkins, an American economist who wrote a book called Confessions of an Economist Hitman, the plane where Torrijos was going exploded by a tape recorder with a bomb in it, he also said that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was linked to his murder.

The solution for the CIA was very simple: Torrijos had to be eliminated. That murder was promoted by the interests of the Bestell corporation, which was the largest construction company in the United States.

For Washington, it was convenient to get the Panamanian leader out of the way, since by eliminating Torrijos, Washington would prevent Japan from building a new canal in Panama and thus not losing its monopoly on the exploitation of the maritime passage.

In 1983, a prosecutor's office report, supported by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), revealed that the plane in which Torrijos was traveling suffered mechanical damage and had no traces of explosives, however, Moisés Torrijos, the general's deceased brother, reported a possible attack in 1986.

The United States government has always denied the existence of these reports, the soldier died in an Operation Falcon in Flight, organized and financed by the CIA.

44 years after his death, Latin America holds the flag of struggle of this revolutionary who gave his life for the sovereignty of his homeland.
