On an ecological day, the Bolivarian Government released 250 seahorses in the Mochima National Park

A total of 250 seahorses were released in Mochima National Park, on the occasion of the commemoration of World Beach Day, through the coordination of the Institute for Advanced Studies Foundation (IDEA), the Ministries of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Tourism, Water Care, as well as the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
The release of these specimens involved the active participation of children and young people from the National Scientific Seed Program, who took the lead in the defense of the ecosystem.
The day was led by the Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Nelson Rodríguez and the Minister of Popular Power for Tourism, Daniella Cabello.
Also present were the president of the IDEA Foundation, Marines Longart; the governor of the state of Sucre, Johanna Carrillo; and the mayor of the municipality of Sucre, Pedro Figueroa.
During the activity, there was also an exhibition of the INPARQUES ecological display case, the capture of lionfish in the La Garrapata sector and the underwater day Fish Your Plastic in the Mangle Quemao sector, with the participation of the councils of fishermen and women fishermen.
The biologist and researcher at the IDEA Foundation, Rubén Penott, highlighted the scope of this conservation program, specifying that since 2023, more than 6,100 specimens of seahorses (Hippocampus) have been reintroduced to their natural habitat.
