Óscar Schémel: The Venezuelan people are exhausted by the confrontation and are asking for peace

This Friday, September 11, the president of Hinterlaces, Óscar Schémel, emphasized that the fundamental strength of the new national identity is sovereignty, peace and union, since “most of the people in the country are exhausted, tired of confrontation and are asking, on the contrary, for peace, union, consensus; never before has there been so much consensus in relation to the economy as there is now”.

During an interview with Venezolana de Televisión, he reiterated that “ideology and politics are no longer ends in themselves, they are means to achieve well-being, happiness, social advancement; these are the objectives of Venezuelans and they understand that confrontation has served no purpose”.

Schémel said that “this is a very interesting phase that mixes profound pragmatism with a redefinition of relations with the United States; this is not a simple oil contract, this is the beginning of a new oil doctrine by the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez. Venezuelans see politics as a means to achieve well-being.”

He also reaffirmed that energy agreements with transnational companies mean the reconfiguration of new relationships of respect with nations that wish to invest, with the objective of guaranteeing economic growth in Venezuela and improving the quality of life of citizens.

Schémel noted that the current goal is to reconnect. This involves not only listening and understanding, but also developing a new country proposal based on agreements.

“For Venezuelans, these are fundamentally discourses that have to do with peace, with union and, above all, with results,” he said, highlighting as a key for Venezuelans that leaders can realize the promises of well-being.
