On February 24, 1943, Pablo Milanés, composer, singer and guitarist, was born in Bayamo, Cuba. Known for being one of the founders of the Nueva Trova in the Caribbean country.
Ever since he was a child, he stood out for his artistic talent. In 1964 he joined the Los Bucaneros quartet where he gave his first musical fruits.
In 1968, Milanés performed his first concert at Casa de las Américas with Silvio Rodríguez, which marked the beginning of the New Trova. Later he shared with Violeta Parra, Milton Nascimento, Víctor Jara, Mercedes Sosa, Daniel Viglietti, Chico Buarque, Simone, Vinícius de Moraes, and other great Latin American singer-songwriters.
Throughout his career he has performed various musical styles and has composed soundtracks for movie movies.
He was awarded the La Mar de Música 2017 award, a distinction he received in the company of Rozalén, Jorge Marazu and Pablo López. His incomparable talent was highlighted, turning the most inspiring and necessary humble sung word into an art of great aesthetic and social value.
