Padrino López: The Army is carrying out a series of profound transformations

The Army component of our Bolivarian National Armed Force is undergoing a series of transformations, including the modernization of its weapons systems and the professionalization of the human personnel that compose it, said the Minister of Defense, G/J Vladimir Padrino López.

In a statement released this Tuesday, on the occasion of the 204th anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo and Army Day, Padrino highlighted that this military component stands out for its adaptability, which consolidates it as an anti-imperialist stronghold, in perfect popular military-police fusion.

Below is the full text of the statement:

Maximum determination and courage; focus on the supreme objective; tactical and strategic brilliance; sagacity in the midst of the heat of combat; patriotic divisions in reckless offensive deployment... Calculation, intelligence, resistance, courage, passion... All this shaped the emancipatory spirit of the troops of the glorious Liberation Army, which on June 24, 1821 achieved the colossal feat of overcoming the hegemony and arrogance of the powerful Spanish empire. It was the wild and fruitful savanna of Carabobo, the embryo of our Republic, a witness to the trepidation of untamed horsemen and the harangues of General in Chief Simón Bolívar, who brandishing his sabre, together with the spears of wild Indians and bayonets drawn by fierce infants, undertook the great feat that he saw crowned with laurels of honor, the sublime dream of so many courageous souls: the independence of Venezuela.

To say Carabobo is to say Patria! ... It is a founding act that woven our nationality. It is a perennial cry in collective memory that will remind present and future generations of the irreducible will to be free, sovereign and independent. It is the triumph that imbued a continent with hope, becoming the cornerstone of the doctrine that today supports the Bolivarian Army; a body deeply rooted in the people, defender of self-determination and guarantor of social justice. Hence, in all its tradition, it has only crossed borders to bring freedom and peace to sister nations. An institution that has forged leaders at the height of its historical time; among them the Genius of America Simon Bolivar and the Supreme Commander of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez.

This distinguished component of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces has been, is and will always be the vanguard in the defense of the nation and the promotion of its most pristine republican values. It is currently carrying out a series of profound transformations, modernizing its weapons systems with its own technology and increasing the professionalization of its human talent; committed to the strategic guidelines of the Ayacucho Plan and facing global challenges. Its adaptability consolidates it as an anti-imperialist stronghold, in perfect popular military-police fusion.

Soldiers of my Bolivarian Army! In each one of you, the blood and courage of our liberators endures. Then serve this 204th anniversary to congratulate them and to gratefully honor their loyalty. I greet with special deference your Commander, Major General Johan Alexander Hernández Lárez, a leader who, with admirable commitment and success, leads them undeterred and impregnable. LONG LIVE THE GLORIOUS BOLIVARIAN ARMY!!!
