The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), together with the different Public Security Agencies and the Bolivarian National Militia, will continue to progressively increase the training of fighters specialized in special operations, said Defense Minister G/J Vladimir Padrino López.
“A special combatant is what we need and we are going to increase that strength with these courses (Revolutionary Special Operators Course) that integrate the FANB, the Millicia, and the Public Security Organizations,” he said, while explaining that this training will be maintained in addition to the courses that each organization offers, separately, to its men and women.
In the same way, the senior military officer highlighted the rigor with which this course was aimed at training fighters with special combat skills. “Out of more than 800 applicants, only 500 managed to finish it,” he said.
“Nowadays, when the battlefield becomes transparent; when, with new technology, there is nothing that can be done on the battlefield that cannot be seen; we need special fighters, with technology, and an extraordinary characteristic over an ordinary, regularly acting soldier. A special operations fighter is a more mentally prepared soldier, with greater capacity, more prudent, more patient, with greater intelligence, greater agility for various tasks,” Padrino explained.
