President (E) Delcy Rodríguez set up a workshop with the UN for the Reconstruction Plan after earthquakes

The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, set up this Wednesday the workshop with the United Nations (UN) for the Reconstruction Plan after the earthquakes that occurred last June 24 in the country.

From the Miraflores Palace, together with the UN resident coordinator in Venezuela, Gianluca Rampolla, the president in charge thanked the multilateral entity for its efforts in the face of the national emergency, “in the first stage of rescue and rescue”.

“There is evidence of the immediate communications and the request that I made to the United Nations coordinator to bring all the rescue delegations that can come to our country because these are the decisive hours to save more lives,” he recalled.

He stressed that progress is now being made in working together in the recovery phase. “Recover and rebuild. It's a work that I envision, this post-earthquake needs assessment plan and this resilient recovery framework I see beyond (...) it's not just recovering what you had, no, it's going further, because the double seismic impact also impacted sectors in poverty,” he said.

In this regard, he highlighted the need to move to a stage of development, overcoming the humanitarian dimension, in “a phase of recovery and reconstruction that focuses on the human being in all dimensions. It's not just an inventory of debris, it's not an inventory of infrastructure, it's the recovery of infrastructure, it's impacting the most socio-economically vulnerable sectors and how that double earthquake had devastating effects on their lives,” said Rodríguez.
