During an interview with the American television channel NBC News, the president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, emphasized that without a doubt Nicolás Maduro is the legitimate President of Venezuela.

“I can tell you that President Nicolás Maduro is the legitimate president. I'll tell you this as a lawyer, which I am. Both President Maduro and Cilia Flores are innocent people, which they have been tried to disown,” he said.

He also stressed that she is in charge of the Presidency of the Republic, “this is what the Constitution contemplates and I can tell you that due to the level of work, I am very responsible for the Presidency, an arduous job, especially in the unprecedented conditions in which it was up to me to take charge of the Presidency”.

The president in charge specified that she has spoken twice by phone with President (Donald) Trump. I have had more frequent contact with Secretary (Marco) Rubio.”

“I must highlight that they have been very respectful contacts, at a level that allows us to work together, that cooperation can flow, that is why we have said, that the energy agenda can be an engine, but I must be grateful because the contacts we have had are at the highest level. They have always been respectful and courteous,” he said.
