This Tuesday, the president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, inspected the rehabilitation of the main runway of the Simón Bolívar de Maiquetía International Airport, which was affected by the strong earthquakes of last June 24.

Accompanied by the Sectorial Vice President of Public Works and Services, Juan José Ramírez, who is in charge of the works; the Administrative and Digital Government Sectorial Vice President, Anabel Pereira; the president of the Maiquetia International Airport Institute (IAIM), GB Aníbal Rafael Bellorín Pereira; as well as other aeronautical authorities, the Head of State confirmed each of the works being carried out to achieve the start-up of the runway.

It should be noted that the main runway suffered severe cracking in its asphalt layer, which has required the deployment of technical equipment with heavy machinery to mitigate the damage. In this context, high-tech evaluations are carried out, installing specialized equipment to measure all the capacities of the terrain.

To date, the tour carried out shows significant progress in a tireless work that brings together technical teams, engineers and experts. Meanwhile, the Bolivarian Government ordered the activation of the alternate track.
