The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, paid tribute this Thursday to the revolutionary leader Ernesto “Che” Guevara, on the 58th anniversary of his assassination by the United States (USA).

“The assassination of the Commander of Dignity, Courage and Rebellion of All America, Ernesto 'Che' Guevara, orchestrated 58 years ago by North American imperialism, was an attempt to extinguish its global flame. However, they only managed to turn it into the eternal symbol of the struggle for anti-imperialist dignity,” said the head of state in a post on his Telegram channel.

He emphasized that “his ethical and profoundly humanistic legacy is the antidote to capitalism. Che is still alive in every battle for sovereignty, proving that the moral value of free peoples prevails,” he said, stressing that the Latin American leader will always be present “in the ideas that move us to build Latin American and Caribbean Socialism .”
