On the 21st anniversary of the reaffirmation of Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías as President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, through the Referendum held on August 15, 2004, President Nicolás Maduro exalted this example of true democracy for the world.

“It was an unforgettable day when our Homeland wrote a page in human history, becoming the first country in the world to submit the President of the Republic to a recall referendum,” said the Head of State in a message posted on his Telegram channel.

He recalled that that day Commander Chávez “took up the challenge and called on the People to become the great Florentine against the devil. We took to the streets, from neighborhood to neighborhood and from city to city, in one of the most beautiful campaigns because of its message, patriotism and truth.”

After the historic day, the resounding victory of the Supreme Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution “gave us a decade of stability, peace and social growth, guaranteeing social rights unprecedented in 200 years of history,” he said.

“That day was consolidated as an invaluable heritage of revolutionaries and revolutionaries, and of all of Venezuela. The triumph reaffirmed Commander Chávez's mandate and demonstrated the strength of our democracy, where the popular vote is invincible and truth and dignity will always triumph. It was worth it!” , he said.
