The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, recalled this Thursday the historic, “emblematic and prophetic” speech of the Liberator Simon Bolivar to the Patriotic Society of Caracas.

“Along with Ribas, Miranda and other patriotic heroes, Bolívar set the public standard, debating with the People the crucial dilemma of independence or colony; giving a signal for Our America, breaking the bonds of 300 years of European domination and colonialism, the same one that today seeks to dictate orders to our Homeland,” said the Head of State through his Telegram channel.

In his message, the president urged “to act with the same unbreakable, independence and rebellious spirit of our ancestors” before those who “still look at us with contempt and racism”, stressing that “the path is clear, as the Liberator taught us and as our Commander Chávez used to repeat: Independence or nothing! , under all circumstances”.

He stressed that “only on the path of independence will we find our own formulas and models to build 21st century Venezuela and Latin America and the Caribbean as a single block of forces.”

In this regard, he recalled the words of the Father of the Fatherland: “That great projects must be prepared calmly! Isn't three hundred years of calm enough?” , stressing that “the calm has been enough, the time has come for sovereign action”.
