Experts from the Presidential Commission for the Evaluation of Infrastructure Habitability carry out technical inspections at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, affected by the double earthquake on June 24.

Through Instagram, the commission explained that the conference was attended by renowned Japanese structural engineer Hideki “Kit” Miyamoto, a specialist in seismic resilience and damage assessment in critical buildings.

The engineering teams were deployed on the different platforms, boarding halls, runways and control towers to quantify the structural and non-structural effects present in the air terminal, which will make it possible to accurately determine the scope of the necessary interventions.

Data collection and on-site analysis will facilitate the planning of the reconstruction phases, prioritizing the areas of greatest operational risk and ensuring the continuity of services under updated safety standards.
