SAPI promotes IGP to position Larense coffee in international markets

The Autonomous Intellectual Property Service (SAPI), an entity attached to the Ministry of People's Power for Industries and National Commerce, held a working meeting with the Coffee Regulatory Council of the state of Lara, aimed at consolidating the Protected Geographic Indication (PGI) in this category, in order to refine strategies in favor of local producers.

The conference, reported the SAPI on its website, was led by the general director of this organization, Hendrick Perdomo, in which issues related to the strategic value of Venezuelan coffee production, its positioning in international markets and the high competitiveness of this product in the global landscape were addressed.

It was also proposed to modify traditional commercial dynamics to ensure that business opportunities have a direct impact on the quality of life of coffee growing families.

As part of the agreements reached, it was established to provide technical and institutional assistance, as well as permanent monitoring to producers throughout the process of consolidating the IGP.

With this deployment, the SAPI reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the Agrifood Engine and safeguarding the Venezuelan productive identity through the mechanisms of Intellectual Property, in line with the policies promoted by the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez.
