This Friday, July 10, the Minister for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, emphasized that the Venezuelan State is continuing with the process of thoroughly identifying those who died during the double earthquake that occurred last June 24.
From the Transitional Camp installed in the center of La Guaira of the Simón Bolívar University (USB), he explained that the bodies of deceased people found during debris removal work that are not identified by family members, are taken fingerprints, photographs, dental records and skin samples for subsequent DNA tests.
“The objective is to keep all the necessary information so that, if a family member later claims a missing person, identification can be made,” he said.
After noting the importance of this work, the also Sectorial Vice President of Policy, Public Security and Peace highlighted the actions taken by the national Government to accompany affected families, not only with the creation of spaces for the care of those who lost their homes, but also in terms of the emotional effects caused by these earthquakes.
“We are not going to give up,” he said.
