Sector Vice President Iturria: Health and Life Plan records 2,660 successful hemodynamic procedures

Within the framework of the Health and Life Plan 2026, Venezuela's health system reports a positive balance in highly complex medical care, after achieving 2,660 successful hemodynamic procedures so far this year, reported Isabel Iturria, the sector's vice-president of Health, Science, Technology and Ecosocialism.

During an interview broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), he highlighted that this figure represents the highest number of catheterizations performed free of charge on the national public network, which exceeds the goals projected for this period thanks to the deployment of multidisciplinary medical teams.

“In January, we thought that our goal for the year was going to be 2,500 and we have already reached 2,660; despite the double earthquake, it has been possible, with the efforts of all doctors and doctors, to reach the goal early,” he said after asserting that there is no waiting list for pediatric patients.

Among the healthcare institutions with the highest volume of procedures are the University Hospital and the Vargas Hospital in Caracas, as well as the Victorino Santaella Ruiz Hospital in Los Teques.

In this regard, he noted that new hemodynamic equipment is planned to be installed before the end of the year to expand the resolution capacity for ischemic heart disease to other states of the country.

Regarding the implantation of pacemakers, he specified that more than 1,287 devices have been successfully placed free of charge in 15 hospitals in the country.

He announced that the National Electronic History of Pacemakers and Hemodynamics has been launched, a digital tool that allows accurate tracking of the assigned supplies and ensuring continuous clinical monitoring of patients with these devices.

He also indicated that the “Professor Lenín Molina Peñaloza” Orthotics and Prosthesis Laboratory, reactivated in Caracas, represents a new beginning that offers solutions to the 1,500 requests registered in the 1×10 of Good Governance pending aid of this type and that it is expected to treat all patients in the coming months.

Uturria said that among the beneficiaries are people affected by the double earthquake of last June 24. At this point, he commented that during the visit of the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, he shared two emblematic cases: a pediatric patient who lost her right arm in the seismic event and a member of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) who suffered the loss of a member in the events of January 3rd.

He stressed that in Venezuela this type of mechanized and myoelectric prosthesis, whose international cost ranges from 25,000 to 100,000 dollars, are accessible thanks to the efforts of the Venezuelan State.

In addition, Uturria reported that under the “One Health” approach, the Bolivarian Government has applied more than 330,000 rabies vaccines throughout the country during the year 2026, to guarantee the free and timely immunization of dogs and cats throughout the country.

He explained that the state of Zulia leads regional care with the highest number of doses administered, followed by the state of Guárico with more than 22,000 applications.

He said that the day is based on the National Digital Vaccination Registry implemented in the Nevado Mission camps. This tool makes it possible to record each animal treated in real time, create a centralized database to project the planning of the next cycle and monitor possible bite accidents.

“Vaccinating our pets, dogs or cats, at home or in the community, is part of our citizen responsibility and constitutes a fundamental action that the State guarantees completely free of charge,” emphasized Iturria, highlighting the coordinated work between the Nevado Mission, the network of the National Public Health System and the Ministry of Popular Power for Productive Agriculture and Lands.
