The Sovereign Countryside Fairs were deployed this Saturday in nine municipalities in the state of Barinas to provide direct supply to more than 7,000 families in the state, with more than 102 tons of basic food products at affordable prices.

The day had 16 parallel points of sale, through a plan aimed at consolidating food sovereignty by reducing intermediary links, said the territorial director of the Ministry of People's Power for Food, Edgar Guillén.

“This ongoing attention strengthens the distribution system directly in the communal circuits, optimizing food security and guaranteeing the supply of proteins, food and vegetables with savings of up to 70%,” said Guillén, quoted by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) on its website.

He stressed that this model eliminates commercial intermediaries and directly integrates agricultural producers, local and community entrepreneurs, ensures the family economy and boosts regional production.

This action by the Bolivarian Government is in addition to the permanent deployment of fish fairs, peasant farms, the supply network, mobile warehouses, the Grandparents and Grandmothers of the Homeland Plan, the Food Houses and direct deliveries to Barinese families.
