Superior Basketball League will start on September 25

The Minister of Popular Power for Sports, Franklin Cardillo, announced this Friday that the first edition of the Superior Basketball League will begin on September 25, with the clash between Crocodiles from Caracas and Globetrotters from Carabobo , in the United Nations Park in the capital.

During the presentation to the press, accompanied by the Minister of Popular Power for Youth, Sergio Lotartaro; the president of the Venezuelan Basketball Federation, Hanthony Coello; among other authorities, Cardillo explained that the idea of the Superior Basketball League was born on the initiative of one of the most representative figures of Venezuelan basketball such as Gregory Vargas, who proposed the project to the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez at the Miraflores Palace.

“This league will give a lot to talk about in the coming days and will bring mass to Venezuelan basketball and benefit the activity of Venezuelan players, who will be the fundamental pillar of the league,” he said.

He said that with the format provided for the League, more basketball games will be held in the country and conferences with an operational and logistical structure that guarantees safety and support for players and coaches.

For his part, Minister Lotartaro said that, in the context of the Superior Basketball League, new windows are being opened to young people and highlighted that sponsors of private and public companies joined the sporting event.

In terms of transmission, he stressed that agreements have been concluded with public, private and satellite media. In addition, each team will be able to stream the games via streaming.

Lotartaro reported that the Superior Basketball League aims to strengthen the Under-21 and Under-23 categories.

He also explained that technical tables will be installed to define playing times in order to project and make visible the country's basketball youth team.
