On January 12, 1946 , at the Estadio Cervecería Caracas, the first Venezuelan professional baseball game took place, when the Patriotas de Venezuela and Navegantes del Magallanes teams faced each other.
Those now known as Turks won the match 5 to 2. The Sages of Vargas, on the other hand, would be the ones who would top the list of champions in the newborn and organized baseball league, even repeating the following season, also becoming the first two-time champion of the local ball.
The game lasted one hour and 40 minutes, and the Umpires were: Teodoro Venancio, principal; Manuel Chaparro, first baseman and Rafael Paiva, third baseman.
Luis Aparicio Ortega, the shortstop for Magallanes, scored the first recorded hit in the history of Venezuelan professional baseball in this game against pitcher Carlos Rotjes.
The first race of the game was also scored by Aparicio, the first ticket was received by Vidal López and the first pitcher to win is Alejandro Patón Carrasquel.
The first Venezuelan Professional Baseball Champion was the Sabios de Vargas team in 1946.
