  • On the night of Thursday, November 15, 1962, Professor José Damián Ramírez Labrador was assassinated by a youth member of the armed gangs of the Social Christian Party COPEI.
  • This happened at 7 at night, at the Juan Vicente González Night High School, when dozens of students went classroom by classroom asking the other students to go out to the yard to demonstrate in honor of those killed by the Government of Rómulo Betancourt.
  • Professor Ramírez Labrador then gave his authorization for a student to say a few words in the middle of his mathematics class.
  • At that moment, a Copeyan student turned off the light in the classroom and the shooting took place that ended the teacher's life.
  • The traditional newspapers of the time, in big headlines, spread false news, with a false character who was chosen as a scapegoat for the front pages. The name and photo of a certain Jorge Ramón with a communist affiliation appeared.
  • The real murderer was the militant of the most extreme right wing of COPEI, named Ditmer Miller, who in the midst of police investigations was taken out of the country and taken to live quietly in Spain.
  • The police never tired of beating and torturing the randomly chosen murderer, Jorge Ramón, as the perpetrator of a crime he did not commit.
