This Monday, September 14, the new 2026-2027 school year will begin across the country, announced the Minister of Popular Power for Education, Héctor Rodríguez.

“This Monday, September 14, our schools and high schools open their doors to welcome our children and young people in a new academic period,” said Rodríguez, who highlighted the effort made to recover school time and ensure the continuity of teaching.

The Venezuelan education system reports an enrollment of more than six million students distributed in 27,000 institutions nationwide, from preschool to high school education in the public, subsidized and private sectors.

Regarding the availability of teaching staff, the authorities clarified that the country has a solid base of educators who graduate in comprehensive education, and there is a specific demand for teachers who specialize in specific subjects.

To meet this requirement, the Ministry offers the teaching component free of charge both to comprehensive educators who wish to specialize and to professionals in the areas of engineering, mathematics, chemistry and biology interested in teaching.

In addition, the measure that allows retired staff to return to classrooms while maintaining their benefits and charging for contracted hours is maintained.

Finally, the school infrastructure care plan continues its progressive deployment, planning to reach 1,500 schools for this new academic period with the objective of optimizing learning conditions at the national level.
