Tupac Katari: The struggle of indigenous peoples made millions (+seeding)

This Saturday marks the 244th anniversary of the planting of Julián Apaza Nina, better known as Túpac Katari, an indigenous leader who fought to redeem the Aymara and Quechua people against the yoke of Spanish colonizers in Bolivia.

The hero of the Bolivian Indigenous Peoples was captured for perverse treason, sentenced to death and dismembered, on November 15, 1781. He was condemned to be dismembered, so that there would not be a “seed” of his fight against the injustices of the Spanish colonialists, but before he died he uttered a prophecy. “They can kill me, but I'll come back in the millions,” he said.

Tupac Katari was one of the greatest icons of the struggle of indigenous peoples against colonialist oppression in Bolivia, which has had great fruits: the conquest of their identity and natural resources.
