Twenty-seventh open-air gallery opened in Barquisimeto

Fifteen murals by Venezuelan and foreign artists make up the new open-air gallery inaugurated in Barquisimeto, Lara state, as part of the activities for the 474-year founding of the city.

The works extend from the immediate vicinity of Ayacucho Park, through Carrera 15, to 46th Street, in the Guachirongo sector, and were carried out during five consecutive days of work.

The muralism incorporates references to Lara's popular and cultural memory, including figures such as the painter Macario Colombo and Argenis Giménez, known as “The Fool with the Banner”, as well as elements linked to the Jirahara heritage and the folklore of the entity.

The intervention included the participation of local, national and international creators, including César Mata from Caracas, who dedicated a work to Colombo; Avilio Robles from Trujillo, author of “Jirahara Ancestrality” and Colombian artist Ender Palencia, who captured expressions of Larense culture based on his experiences during his first visit to Venezuela.

The new gallery is part of the International Muralism Festival and seeks to turn this urban corridor into a space for art, coexistence and the dissemination of elements of Barquisimeto's cultural identity.
