Undefeated! Venezuelan men's under-19 volleyball defeated Uruguay in the South American Championship in Brazil

The under-19 men's national volleyball team defeated Uruguay 3-0 (25-18, 25-17 and 25-22) and remains undefeated in the South American Championship in the category that is being held in Araguari, Brazil.

The first set against Uruguay presented a balanced duel until 14-14. From that moment on, the national sextet took control thanks to the offensive power of Benjamín García, who found space with his cross-attacks, in addition to the unforced errors of Uruguay.

The advantage reached 18-14, a situation that led coach Gonzalo Zannier to request time. After the break, Julio Calles, a 2-meter center, found space to add with intelligent attacks, while Jonás Flores was present in the blockade.

Venezuela reached a difference of 22-17 and maintained control until the end of the 25-18 set.

The second chapter got off to a favorable start for Venezuela. Benjamín García returned to the spotlight and punished the Uruguayan defense with precise shots.

The offensive effectiveness made it possible to establish a 10-4 difference, in addition to taking advantage of several difficulties in receiving the rival. In the decisive stretch, Diego Rondón appeared, who raised the power of the attack from the opposing position.

The closing was signed by Rondón, who with a powerful cross shot put 25-17 and placed Venezuela one set away from victory.

The third set started with greater parity and reached 9-9. The national team detected Uruguay's difficulties in reception and serving to take a 14-10 lead.

César Parra took advantage of his opportunities in the network and extended the gap to 18-10. The national team seemed to be heading for a comfortable close, but Uruguay reacted and reduced the gap.

The Charrúas approached three points in the final stretch, but Venezuela responded with serenity and avoided any attempt at a comeback. The score ended 25-22, a result that sealed 3-0.

With this victory, Venezuela achieved two victories, in its debut the tricolor squad defeated Colombia 3-2, in a match of the highest demand. The national team fell in the first set 30-28, responded with wins of 25-19 and 25-23, yielded the fourth 25-16 and sealed the comeback in the fifth set 15-13.

The national team has 5 points, six sets won and two lost, figures that place it in first place in Group B.

The next challenge is this Friday (7:00 p.m.) against Argentina, which is also undefeated with victories against Uruguay and Colombia.
