Venezuelan fencer Valeria Escobar Navarro won the silver medal in the Pan-American Cadet and Youth Fencing Championship held in the city of Bogotá, Colombia.

Escobar signed a high-level qualifying round, closing with 5 wins and 1 loss in pool 2 of the contest, for an average of 0.83, with 28 touches in favor and 17 against, achieving a positive differential of +11 that placed her among the best in the group, according to the Ministry of Sports press.

Then, he advanced directly by bye to the table of 32 where he defeated Brazil's Pietra Brazolin 15-10, and then, on the table of 16, he beat Panama's Itza Castillo 15-6 with authority.

Already in decisive instances, Escobar beat the American Suzanna Shayakmetova 15-10 in the round of 16, while, in the semifinals, she once again showed her strength by winning 15-8 against Mexico's Ivanna Pérez, thus ensuring her pass to the final.
