Venezuela and Colombia coordinate strategies to enhance border security

With the objective of strengthening the fight against
cross-border crime, military and police authorities of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic
of Colombia held a meeting via
videoconference, to evaluate security strategies in the border area.
The meeting was led by the Minister of Popular Power for
Defense, Gustavo González López, and his Colombian counterpart, Pedro Arnulfo
Sánchez Suárez, who discussed the establishment of comprehensive security guarantees for citizens
living in border communities.
Last March, a delegation from Colombia visited Caracas
to discuss security, energy, trade and tourism. The president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, said at the time that immediate coordination and
the exchange of permanent information are necessary on the 2,219
kilometer border shared by both nations.
