Venezuela and Slovenia strengthen ties of friendship and review bilateral cooperation agenda in Caracas

In order to strengthen diplomatic dialogue and energize the bilateral agenda, the director general for Europe of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Nelson Totesaut, held a courtesy meeting with the plenipotentiary minister of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Brazil and appointed chargé d'affaires for Venezuela, Blaž Masle.

During the meeting, held at the “Antonio José de Sucre” Yellow House in Caracas, the authorities reviewed the advances in the relationship between Venezuela and the European Union, agreeing on the mutual will to coordinate the institutional steps necessary to progressively advance in raising the level of diplomatic representation to the rank of ambassadors in both nations, under the principles of reciprocity, respect and sovereignty.

In addition, sincere thanks were extended to the Slovenian Government and people for the prompt solidarity response of humanitarian aid sent to the care of families affected by the double earthquake recorded in the country on 24 June, highlighting the fraternal spirit of international cooperation.

Both delegates reviewed the balance of trade and identified valuable opportunities for development and investment in strategic non-oil sectors, highlighting economic complementarity and the use of European logistics platforms that could boost bilateral trade in the near future.

Finally, the commitment to maintain direct and fluid communication channels for the care of the Slovenian community resident in Venezuela was ratified, as well as the promotion of technical cooperation and constructive political dialogue, reaffirming the vocation of peace for the benefit of both nations.
