The President in Charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, reiterated to the United States government that sanctions against Venezuela not only affect the Venezuelan people, but also have a direct negative impact on the economy of Colombia and the entire region.

held a meeting this Friday with a high-level delegation from Colombia at the Miraflores Palace, with the objective of strengthening bilateral relations and deepening strategic infrastructure and energy projects.

“I want to take advantage of this space to also send a message to the President of the United States, Donald Trump so that it is understood that unilateral coercive measures against the people of Venezuela affect the peoples of our Latin America, they also have an impact on the economy of Colombia, on the economy of Venezuela,” reiterated the president in charge.

He added that among the key points of the binational agenda, the creation of mechanisms for energy exchange was discussed, which would allow Venezuela to acquire electricity from Colombia, while the neighboring country could supply itself with Venezuelan gas through gas interconnection.

“The call is for an end to sanctions against Venezuela, because it is also a way to promote regional integration; it is the way to encourage us to provide interconnection in infrastructure, in electrical infrastructure, as we have been talking about. Exchange: that Venezuela can buy electricity from Colombia, that Colombia can buy gas from Venezuela. Gas interconnection,” Rodríguez explained.

He stressed that Colombia and Venezuela are reactivating the Antonio Ricaurte binational gas pipeline to import Venezuelan gas into Colombia, through this 225 km infrastructure that has been inactive since 2019.
