Venezuela urges the transformation of CELAC into a tool for concrete results for the region

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Félix Plasencia González, urged this Monday, from New York, United States, to transform the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) into a mechanism for concrete results that responds to a historic demand from its members.

According to the foreign minister, the objective of this block is to transcend political dialogue and generate tangible benefits that improve the quality of life in the region, in order to obtain results to strengthen cooperation in the face of contingencies and to advance economic and productive integration.

At the ministerial meeting of the regional bloc, he emphasized that member States must safeguard peace and the diplomatic channel as fundamental pillars to promote joint development and regional integration.

Minister Plasencia, on behalf of President Delcy Rodríguez, thanked the Caribbean nations for the solidarity received after the earthquakes that hit the country on June 24 and stressed that, in difficult times, Latin America and the Caribbean was there and Venezuela will not forget those gestures of friendship and closeness.

He said that Caracas will continue to bet on a CELAC of peace, dialogue, integration and cooperation; a CELAC capable of making its diversity a strength and of transforming coincidences into concrete results for peoples.

The CELAC meeting in New York takes place within the framework of the participation of its member countries in the 81st session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).
