Venezuelan Basketball Federation prioritizes national attention and announces adjustments

Faced with the current situation that the country is going through after the June 24 field, the Venezuelan Basketball Federation (FVB) reaffirmed its commitment to empathy, respect for grief and priority attention to the national emergency.

Through a statement published on its social networks, the institution called for understanding and support, publicly recognizing the disappointment generated by the recent results of the men's senior team in the 2027 World Cup qualifiers, assuming their full responsibility.

Below is the full text of the statement:

The Venezuelan Basketball Federation (FVB) addresses public opinion to communicate that in the face of the emergency that our country is experiencing, we prioritize empathy, respect for grief and attention to the national contingency.

With regard to the results of the men's senior team in the 2027 World Cup qualifiers, we recognize the disappointment they have generated among the Venezuelan fans and all those who accompany and support our national team. As an institution, we fully assume our responsibility and its consequences

In this regard, in the coming days our president, Hanthony Coello, will hold a press conference to report on the decisions taken with regard to the men's senior selection and the adjustments to the national calendar of activities and competitions resulting from recent events in our country.

During these days, the FVB's multidisciplinary team has been working on urgent issues, including:

• Reordering of the calendar of the national system of competencies.
• Relocation of the concentration of the women's senior team prior to the South American Qualifier for the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2027.
• Reorganization of the preparation for the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games.
• Evaluation of the organization of the South American U15 Qualifier for the FIBA Women's Under-16 AmeriCup 2027, scheduled to take place in Venezuela from November 9 to 15.
