From the Municipal Theater of Caracas, on June 9, 2004, he asserted that the time has come to form a great Venezuelan national front, a unitary front, that opens the doors to everything.
“It's not about one party or the other, it's not about one social movement or another, beyond each party, beyond each social movement, let's give way to the Venezuelan national front,” Chávez said.
He stated that even if it is a national front, “all these currents, each one must preserve its essence”, in that sense, he insisted that he is not asking anyone to abandon their criteria, their ideas and their profile, no, “we respect and respect the profile of each one”.
Chávez invited him to rather strengthen his own identity, his own profile, but breaking the barriers that still remain of sectarianism and partisanism, which do a lot of damage to the Bolivarian process.
Commander Chávez recalled some of the phrases of the Liberator Simon Bolivar: “We only need unity to complete the work of our regeneration (...), Unity, unity, that must be our motto, unity our flag!”
He insisted that the time has come to make efforts to move towards union with other important sectors of national life “some of whom have opposed us”, others who are doubting or confused and do not know very well what the path is.
