The Eternal Commander Hugo Chávez predicted a severe economic crisis in the United States as a result of his capitalist model and the Western model.

From the Alba Caracas Hotel, October 21, 2005, Chávez stated that the United States is entering a period of economic crisis, “who knows what consequences it will have in the coming years”.

“The United States fiscal deficit this year (2005) should close to 400 billion dollars. The trade deficit last year (2004) was 700 billion dollars, spending above all military spending,” he said.

“The economic crisis that the United States is suffering and that the United States was suffering would of course affect us all, it will affect us all,” he said.

He recalled that, according to a report, poverty in the United States was reaching almost 40 million poor people. “They eliminated social security for a large part of the population, skyrocketing gasoline, costs, a real disaster, the North American system. Imperialism is rotting and eating away at the inside,” he added.
