With the purpose of empowering and consolidating the organization of more than 30. 000 workers dedicated to artisanal fishing, aquaculture and related activities, the State Meeting of the National Weaving Networks Program was successfully held, a space that organized 24 simultaneous meetings and working groups in the 23 states of the country and the Capital District.
This was announced by the Minister of Popular Power for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, during his speech from the state of Nueva Esparta, where he highlighted the strategic value that women play in community organization and in post-harvest and post-harvest work, overcoming the old vision that reduced their contributions to mere family support.
“The program seeks to guarantee economic security and direct recognition of the productive work of our women within the chain of food sovereignty,” industry spokespersons said during the day.
The work methodology was structured around the construction of the Concrete Agenda for Action (ACA) under four central axes: organization and governance, comprehensive training, funding and prevention of gender-based violence within the framework of the Violet Month. In addition, the lines of the program are aligned with the goals of Plan Venezuela Alimenta: Zero Hunger to guarantee the supply of high-quality fish protein through the approaches of Plan Venezuela Eat Fish and El Cardumen Va.
