World Agriculture Day: Venezuela applies innovative techniques for productive development

Every September 9th, World Agriculture Day is celebrated, with the objective of recognizing those men and women who work the land to supply food to populations.

In Venezuela, with the Scientific-Peasant Alliance, it has been possible to create a network of seed producers in several states of the country that seeks the conservation, massification and exchange of native seeds not only of potatoes but of various Venezuelan sectors, which makes it possible to promote agriculture in the country.

From this Alliance, innovations have emerged for the agricultural area, such as participatory genetic improvement of seeds, which ranges from caring for crop performance to evaluating resistance to diseases.

It has been possible to involve more than 3,500 families, belonging to 126 seed groups across the country.
