The athlete Yilihannys Jiménez won the gold medal in weightlifting in the 57-kilogram division at the XIII South American Games in Santa Fe 2026.

The Creole La Criolla won the gold medal with a total of 199 kilos, surpassing the Peruvian Shoely Mego (197) and the Colombian Antonia Moya (195).

At the start, she achieved only one valid attempt at 87 kilograms and failed the next two at 89 kilos. Even so, it was the national representative who lifted the most weight in the specialty with an advantage of two kilos, over the Peruvian and the Colombian, who equaled 85 in their biggest lift.

For the storm, emotions intensified with a more equal dispute in a battle that was rather tactical, in this instance Venezuela completed its three rounds, leaving effective attempts of 106, 109 and 112 in its participation.

For her part, the Peruvian won 104, 109 and 112 to reduce the advantage against the Venezuelan, although not enough to win the gold that ultimately went to Jiménez with a total of 199 kilos. Mego totaled 197 and Moya 195.
