23 people rescued alive in operations in the municipality of Chacao

The mayor of the Chacao municipality, Gustavo Duque, reported that after more than 24 hours of uninterrupted work by the Civil Protection, the Caracas Fire Department and the Chacao Police in the face of the recorded , 23 people have been rescued alive, including a 19-year-old girl.
Search and rescue efforts are intensifying in the municipality after the strong earthquakes that caused the total collapse of three buildings and serious structural damage in areas surrounding the Migas restaurant, between Altamira and Los Palos Grandes.
Emergency teams operate with extreme caution when removing debris with heavy machinery, to avoid abruptly entering compromised structures because people are still trapped alive inside.
Given the magnitude of the emergency, Plaza Altamira and Miranda Park have been set up as main collection centers.
At these points, a massive turnout of neighbors and volunteers has organized to collaborate in providing supplies, tools and logistical support for rescue forces. Mayor Duque announced that he will give an assessment of what the last 24 hours have been and the work that has been carried out since six in the afternoon yesterday.
