AirTag in Monagas: manipulation collapses in the face of truth

Media labs tried to turn the location of an AirTag in Maturín, Monagas state, into a supposed “proof” of the diversion of humanitarian aid. Another bad faith operation, designed to confuse, demoralize and discredit the work carried out by the Venezuelan Government, international institutions and volunteers who continue to care for families affected by the double earthquake.

But the facts are clear: the device was inside boxes containing food and hygiene products received by a surviving family that lost their home during the earthquakes. After being injured, they temporarily moved to Maturín to take shelter in their family's homes while their housing situation was resolved.

There was no “mystery”, no proof of corruption, no missing aid. There was a family that lost their home and took with them the supplies they received in order to survive.

Pretending that a victim must be trapped in a specific area, unable to mobilize with their children, their belongings or the help received, is an expression of cruelty and ignorance. Aid is not delivered to a coordinate: it is delivered to human beings.

This is what those who use the pain of others for macabre purposes try to hide. They are not interested in the truth or in the destination of the aid. They are interested in manufacturing scandal, sowing suspicion and attacking the collective efforts of those who work day and night for those affected.

The AirTag in Monagas does not demonstrate a detour. It shows that a stricken family received help and sought refuge where they had family support. Media manipulation, once again, is disbanded by the facts.
